Sherlock quote of the day – Sherlock deducing

Sherlock_S01E01_A_Study_in_Pink_720p_BluRay_x264_MIKY_1119Her coat is slightly damp; she’s been in heavy rain in the last few hours. No rain anywhere in London in that time. Under her coat collar is damp too; she’s turned it up against the wind. She’s got an umbrella in her left-hand pocket, but it’s dry and unused: not just wind, strong wind, too strong to use her umbrella. We know from her suitcase that she was intending to stay overnight, so she must have come a decent distance, but she can’t have traveled more than two or three hours because her coat still hasn’t dried. So, where has there been heavy rain and strong wind within the radius of that travel time? Cardiff.” – Sherlock Holmes, A Study In Pink

Oh it has been some time since I posted anything Sherlock related and I am sorry… I have so many other things to do, but here’s one quote where he is John what he can do!

Hardy and Miller in bed together, Sandbrook case and Joe Miller trial continues

normal_B_S2_E4_0521I think it is time for the fourth episode review of Broadchurch series 2 – even though it is a day late… I am sorry.

If you can’t remember what the episode is about or you just haven’t seen it yet here’s a short summary:

Hardy is annoyed when being questioned about Ashworth’s return. Claire disobeys Hardy’s instructions not to see Ashworth. A former Broadchurch resident returns.

CAN CONTAIN SPOILERS

This series just got interesting… I said last time it has been a rocky start, but this episode has been the most exciting one by far this series. Joe Miller’s trial is still going on, and three people normal_B_S2_E4_0131have called in to testify against and for Joe Miller… I must say this trial is just going in all directions – just like the investigation last series.

And again Miller’s family are as they always am not to trust… first Miller’s sister saying that it was Joe she saw that night, but she said to police that she couldn’t identify the person she saw the night of Danny’s death. normal_B_S2_E4_0034OH Miller what is it with your family! and then Ollie snooping and looking into Lee Ashworth – Why can’t you just keep your bloody nose out of something that has nothing to do with you.

normal_B_S2_E4_0373
The dysfunctional copper duo on a road trip!

There’s a difference this episode – Miller is not being blamed for anything… now people are angry with Hardy. He is trying to get the Sandbrook case reopened, but he has to go to Sandbrook – and we all know what that means ROAD TRIP!!

The Sandbrook case investigation is going rather slow – and it looks like Hardy is the only one who cares about it and wants to solve it… there are some new thing rising to the surface in terms of alibis and we gets to see Mrs. Hardy and his daughter, also we gets to know a little bit more about the theory of the case… but the most interesting thing about the road trip was the

The Hardy family dinner
The Hardy family dinner

funny moments between Hardy and Miller or should I say Thelma and Louise!

This episode is, as I said, the best one so far this series and I can’t wait till next week and see what happens with the investigation and what happens in the Joe Miller trial after that curveball that was dropped at the end. It has been difficult the first three episodes to take in all the things from the trial and the new things from Sandbrook and I think the were rushing a bit and it did not draw me in right away… but now I am in and I am loving this dynamic between Hardy and Miller and that there’s still secrets to be revealed! I give this episode a 5 out of 6.

Favourite quotes from the episode

Hardy slept with my wife. That’s why he’s so obsessed with the case.” – Lee to Miller

Look at us, Thelma & Louise! You can be Susan Sarandon.” – Miller to Hardy on their road trip

But this case, Miller, whenever you think you’re getting close, it slips away from you.” – Hardy to Miller, when he tells her about how he found Pippa Gillespie

What is wrong with you? How can you imagine I’d want to go back to it after what it did to us?” – Mrs Hardy to Hardy after he asks her to reopen the Sandbrook case

Why would a father not want an investigation to restart into the death of his own daughter? What if Lee Ashworth didn’t do it? What if he’s been telling the truth? What if I’ve been wrong?” – Hardy to Miller after they’re back at the courthouse for Joe Miller’s trial

A baby is born, secrets still lurking and one question that surprised everyone!

Okay I know this is a little late… but here’s the review of the third episode of Broadchurch series 2 – and I was surprised at the end!

CAN CONTAIN SPOILERS

normal_B_S2_E3_0018So last time Lee Ashworth and Claire met and when Miller took her eyes of them for a few minutes to deal with a very angry Beth, Lee and Claire disappeared – and in true Hardy style he blames Miller for this, but she is not having it – she has reached her limit with everyone dumping their shit on her!… I am actually liking the strong and hard Miller, now when Hardy is fragile because of medically reasons it’s nice to see her channeling some of his grumpiness.

normal_B_S2_E3_0041At the same time Beth got into labour and she is having the baby – but where’s Mark… so Miller to the rescue, and even though Beth really dislike Miller at the moment she lets her help. And you should think that helping her with the labour and birth would make her say thanks to Miller but instead Beth just throws her out of the house!

normal_B_S2_E3_0514We also gets to see another side to Miller – the side that would like to get hammered… but yeah who wouldn’t after all the shit people are blaming you for… so Miller and her new gal pal Claire goes to a bar… I don’t see this ending good, but it actually turns out that Miller tries to do some investigation – but funny way of doing… and the result was she got laid that night… Oh Miller I don’t think you should say this to Hardy.

normal_B_S2_E3_0873But we all know this series also shows the Joe Miller trial and Hardy is questioned again… this time about the evidence (phone and emails)… but this trial just got interesting when it is Miller on the stand and Joe’s lawyer asks her a question that surprised not just everyone in the room but also me and I think other viewers! What are these barristers thinking?! and just as you thought Miller got better this barrister just dumped some big shit on her and turned the focus away from Joe and onto Miller!

And barrister do you really think that the fragile Hardy can go for 2 hours – that sounds more ridiculous than Miller saying that they talked for the 2 hours!

I must say this series has really been having a rocky start and it is really hard to get drawn in when there are so much happening… but by the end of this episode it actually got interesting and I really hope it holds up by the rest of the series! I give this episode 3 out of 6.

Favourite quotes from the episode

I am sick of everyone putting their shit on me when I’m not responsible.” – Miller to Hardy

These barristers, who are they? They’ve never done anything of worth. They are just sniping… The whole system stinks.” – Hardy after his questioning

When did you and DI Hardy first start having an affair?” – Sharon asks Miller this question

No, totally untrue. You’ve got no evidence for this. I am not the guilty one here.” – Miller in response to Joe’s defence team trying to spin the trial so it looks like she did it.

Malcolm Tucker quote of the day – Chef Tucker

tumblr_mxvxfp62pV1seu4a3o5_r1_250You have got to try this aubergine. It’s cooked in ghee. I fucking love ghee. It’s like fucking freebasing butter. Have some more wine. Come on, get quaffing.” – Malcolm Tucker, series 3 episode 7

Tucker got another job as a cook… and even on his “holiday”.

Doctor Who series 8 scene of the day – don’t call the Doctor sir!

806_006339Danny: ‘Time Lord’! Might have known.
The Doctor: Might have known what?
Danny: Well, the accent’s good, but you can always spot the aristocracy. It’s in the… attitude.
Clara: Danny…
Danny: No, Time Lords, do you salute those?
The Doctor: Definitely not.
Danny: Sir!
The Doctor: And you do not call me sir.
Danny: As you wish, sir. Absolutely, sir.
The Doctor: And you can get out of my TARDIS!
Danny: Immediately, sir.
Clara: Doctor, this is stupid, this is unfair!
Danny: One thing, Clara. I’m a soldier, guilty as charged. You see him? He’s an officer.
The Doctor: I am not an officer!
Danny: I’m the one who carries you out of the fire. He’s the one who lights it.
The Doctor: Out. Now.
Danny: Right away, Sir? Straight now?
The Doctor: Yes.
Danny: Am I dismissed?
The Doctor: Yes, you are!
Danny: That’s him. Look at him, right now. That’s who he is.
The Doctor: On balance, I think that went quite well.

An error of judgement and Miller gets blamed for everything!

So it is Monday and that means Broadchurch-day and another episode review.

CONTAINS SPOILERS

normal_B_S2_E2_0414I don’t know what I feel about this episode… there’s so much happening it is hard to keep track. I could start with the whole Joe Miller trial – everyone is preparing and does not look good from the start, and everyone, except from Hardy, has one scapegoat and it has the name Ellie Miller.normal_B_S2_E2_0451

Actually I am feeling that Miller is getting all the shit from everyone for what her husband did – and she did not tell Joe to say “not guilty” he did that out of his own selfish reason – which I am not so clear on… and the worst thing is he is thinking that he is going to get away with killing Danny – Okay Joe do you not know the town you live in… something like this is never going away and if you get out, I don’t think anyone is going to forgive you, after the trial you just putting everyone through! – but that’s just me.

normal_B_S2_E2_0584Along side the preparations for the trial Miller and especially Hardy have something other to think about – Lee Ashworth is back in town and he is requesting to see his wife Claire… and SPOILER I don’t know from a Lee and Claire meeting screams good idea! but Hardy thinks it is… So Miller has to go back to her house – the meeting place. REALLY in the very place where Joe got arrested, is now a meeting place for a woman hiding from her murder suspect of a husband – this really does not sounds like a good idea.normal_B_S2_E2_0740

Did I say it was a small town… it is and nothing stays a secret in this town which just makes this meeting a terrible idea – Hardy what are you thinking!!!

Back to the Joe Miller trial which from the get go was going the wrong way… just ends (for the meantime) going the wrong way in terms of getting justice for Danny – but I can’t wait what’s happening next week!

And why is Hardy okay with Claire calling him Alec, but when Miller did it he told her that he hates the name – is there something between Hardy and Claire?

But this episode was okay… but not one of the best ones and where’s the music and I think there’s too much happening to really get drawn in. I give it a 3.5 out of 6.

Favourite quotes from the episode

I lost my whole life cos of you. I had to leave the country.” – Lee Ashworth to Hardy

I felt sorry for you. I didn’t expect you to go all Bruce Lee on him.” – Hardy to Miller after she asks why he allowed her to see Joe after he confessed.

None of us have got anything left to hide.” – Beth

Ah Miller. I could kiss you.” – Hardy to Miller when she says Claire is willing to meet Lee

Don’t make eye contact with the jury members. The navy tie is better.” – Sharon telling Joe what to do at the trial

It’s done. It’s gone. Nothing to be done. Try not to think about it.” – Hardy to Miller

The trial hearing starts and all hell breaks loose!

So I did not make an episode review last Monday because I came home from London with a really bad cold… but I am well now and it is now Broadchurchday again!

CONTAINS SPOILERS

normal_B_S2_E1_0231Last review was of the series 1 finale… and Hardy and Miller finally found Danny’s killer and we are now back in Broadchurch where everyone is going to hear Joe Miller plead guilty in front of a judge… but we all know there can come some twists in this small town – and the writer did not wait a minute with the first one… where Joe should say “Guilty” – as we are all expecting him (even me!) to – he says two words that sends sadness and big confusion through the courtroom… I think you know what I am talking about! Joe is being so selfish and says “not guilty”! and my reaction was just WTF!!!

But something else is happening this series. Hardy now lives in Broadchurch – did not see that coming, and someone named Claire keeps calling him, but he will not take it – uh Hardy is that your wife, or have you found a relaxing buddy? Also the Hardy/Miller dynamic has changed a bit.

normal_B_S2_E1_0074Hardy and Miller does not work together anymore – Miller is now giving Devon citizens traffic tickets! and she has got Hardy’s grumpy face. But even though they do not work together he still trusts her – enough to let her in a secret… and it turns out that Claire is someone from the Sandbrook case. But to, I think, everyones surprise she calls Hardy, Alec! OMG I just remember when Miller called him Alec he said he did not like it, but when Claire does it he says nothing!

normal_B_S2_E1_0579It looks like there is something between them – and if you have seen Broadchurch you know there are secrets lurking beneath the surface… even Miller asks if Claire is his wife, when he introduces Claire.

We actually gets to know what the Sandbrook case about and why Hardy is keeping Claire hidden and I cannot wait till see more, and see what the new people have to hide!

It is a great start to the series and because of the very early twist and us getting to know a little more about Sandbrook… but also the new dynamic between Hardy and Miller are the reason why I give this episode 4 out of 6.

Favourite quotes from this episode

What are you doing here? You know how important today is.” – Hardy to Claire

What is the point of you, Craig? God’s sake!” – Hardy when he hears that Lee Ashworth is back

Stalk me and insult me and you wonder why you’re divorced.” – Miller to Hardy when she sees him outside her psychologists house.

My last case before I came to Broadchurch. Sandbrook. There were two girls, cousins. Lisa Newbery, 19, was babysitting for her 12 year-old cousin Pippa.Pippa’s parents went away for the night to a friend’s wedding. When they came back the next day, both girls were gone.
The 12-year-old, Pippa, her body was found three days later. The 19-year-old, Lisa Officially she’s still missing. Our main suspect was a man called Lee Ashworth but he had a solid alibi.
” – Hardy telling Miller about the Sandbrook case
